Stress - a physical response to a physical threat

This made sense when we were being chased by sabretooth tigers.

Because it overwhelms all the other systems we don't need to get ourselves away - the immune system, the digestive system, the reproductive system, even thinking to a large extent. Within about 7 seconds cortisol reduces our ability to think in detail, because all we needed then were the wits to get up a tree!

But we don't have tigers attacking us anymore, what we have these days are psychological threats, people challenging our livelihood or our identity. The world has changed massively in 40000 years, but there is a lag time in evolution. Now we have the same physical stress response to a psychological threat. Stress chemicals strip us down to our basics – they are meant for short bursts and then are sweated out of us, but now we have it all day every day, we are drip fed.

The unconscious mind’s purpose it to protect, it wants to keep thinking about something to find an answer. We take those two mins of stress and rerun them and add meaning, sometimes all night, or for days and days!

But there is no value in that that, it is avoidance, run it once and then run the solution. Why not contact me to find out how?
